The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry and FIMBank plc have signed an Alliance Agreement aimed at raising awareness of banking and corporate finance solutions among Malta’s business community. Announced on 13 October, the agreement pairs the Chamber’s reach across the business community with FIMBank’s expertise in corporate banking and trade finance.

Under the partnership, the two organisations will focus on practical priorities for businesses, including access to finance, working capital finance, business support and internationalisation, alongside the promotion of core principles that underpin sound and sustainable enterprise. The aim is to give companies clearer insight into the financial services available to support their day-to-day operations, their participation in international trade and their growth in local and international markets, helping them identify the financing tools best suited to their stage of development.

William Spiteri Bailey, President of The Malta Chamber, said: “Access to finance is a key enabler of business growth, investment and international expansion.” He linked the agreement to Malta’s transition towards a higher-value economy and the Chamber’s wider commitment to responsible business practices.

Chris Trapani, Senior Vice President and Head of Retail and Corporate Banking at FIMBank, said the bank has built a team combining experience with a strong commitment to customer service. “Our goal is not simply to provide financing, but to build long-term relationships and become trusted partners” in the growth of its clients, he said.

Internationalisation and trade are expected to be particular areas of focus, with FIMBank’s trade finance capabilities set to add value for Maltese firms looking to expand beyond the domestic market. As Malta’s economy continues to move towards higher-value activity, improving awareness of and access to finance is set to play an increasingly important role.
