The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) has concluded a successful North America Luxury and MICE Roadshow (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), showcasing the country’s rapidly expanding offerings to key markets in New York, Chicago and Toronto. The initiative signals a bold, strategic push to cement Malta’s reputation not just as a sun-soaked getaway, but as a world-class destination for high-end leisure and business travel.

Central to this ambition is a game-changing development in transatlantic connectivity. Delta Air Lines is set to launch a nonstop service from JFK International Airport to Malta on the 7th of June, operating three times weekly through to the 23rd of October. The route, the first of its kind between the United States and Malta, is expected to be a significant catalyst for growth. For tour operators, corporate travel planners, and luxury agencies alike, the new service opens a direct and convenient pathway to the Maltese islands.

Michelle Buttigieg, the MTA's North America Representative, described the roadshow as arriving at a "key moment to elevate Malta's visibility" in a fiercely competitive global travel market. She also highlighted Malta's increasingly compelling offer in the MICE sector, pointing to state-of-the-art conference and events facilities capable of accommodating everything from intimate executive retreats and incentive travel programmes to large-scale international conferences. Malta's combination of a compact geography, high-quality venues, a warm climate, rich culture, and an English-speaking population makes it a particularly attractive proposition for corporate clients looking for a distinctive and memorable setting.

Malta's momentum in the global MICE landscape is further reinforced by its selection as host of the 2026 World Travel and Tourism Council Global Summit in Valletta, a milestone that signals the nation's arrival as a serious player on the international stage. One of the most prestigious gatherings in the global travel industry, the Summit will bring together heads of state, tourism ministers, and senior executives from the world's leading travel and hospitality brands.

With a record 4 million visitors expected in 2026, Malta’s tourism sector is set to reach new heights.
