Prime Minister Robert Abela has delivered a statement of support for Malta's business community, reaffirming his government's commitment to backing the ambitions of Maltese and Gozitan companies as they grow, innovate and compete on the international stage.

Speaking alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg at an event hosted by Tastees Manufacturing Ltd, Prime Minister Abela used the occasion to set out the support available to businesses in Malta and Gozo. The event, which celebrated Tastees' product expansion, from its founding in 1969 to its current status as one of Malta's leading food manufacturers, provided a fitting backdrop for the Prime Minister's wider message about the strength and resilience of the Maltese economy.

The Prime Minister also outlined the government's investment in workforce development, announcing that the "AI for All" initiative will in the coming months help workers across Malta strengthen their digital skills and keep pace with rapid technological change. He emphasised that a future-ready economy demands a future-ready workforce, and that the government is committed to delivering both.

Support from public entities including Malta Enterprise, INDIS Malta and TradeMalta was also highlighted as a cornerstone of the government's approach, with Abela noting that it was precisely this ecosystem of support that had encouraged companies such as Tastees to invest further, embrace new technologies and expand their operations.

Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg added that Tastees' continued international growth demonstrated how, with the backing of entities such as TradeMalta, Maltese companies can reach markets far beyond the island's shores. "The products of this company not only represent commercial success, but also serve as a means for us to continue to promote Malta around the world," he said.

With a clear vision anchored in the principles of the Malta Vision 2050 strategy, placing innovation, sustainability and added value at the heart of economic policy, Malta's message to the business world is unambiguous: the island is open, ambitious and fully committed to helping its enterprises thrive.
