Gozo Graphics Launches €100,000 Innovation Fund and Advanced Manufacturing Facility

Gozo-based printing and manufacturing company Gozo Graphics has unveiled Area 51, a dedicated industrial facility designed to provide Maltese hardware startups with access to advanced prototyping and precision manufacturing infrastructure.

The company, which specialises in large format digital printing, sign manufacturing, CNC machining, and 3D printing and scanning, has repurposed its extensive fleet of equipment and technical expertise to support entrepreneurs seeking to bring physical products from concept to production. Area 51 offers startups the kind of industrial capability that would otherwise require significant capital investment to access independently.

Alongside the facility, Gozo Graphics has established a €100,000 private fund aimed at backing innovative projects through their development journey. The fund is intended to support promising ventures from the prototyping stage through to full production, addressing a gap that many early-stage hardware companies face when attempting to scale their ideas. Startups in Malta can also benefit from public funding with the Government introducing the Malta Venture Capital Scheme in 2021 to provide equity for startups in tech, life sciences, and green energy. The mix of public and private funding is reflected in the statistics with Malta recording a remarkable 1,230% surge in venture capital funding during 2025.

Prime Minister Robert Abela visited the facility, recognising the company’s contribution to Malta’s evolving economic landscape. During the visit, Prime Minister Abela noted that Government entities including Malta Enterprise provide ongoing support to help companies such as Gozo Graphics invest in innovative equipment and strengthen Malta's position as a high-value economy.

The initiative aligns with Malta's broader strategic ambitions, as outlined in the Government's Vision 2050 framework, which identifies innovation and advanced manufacturing as key pillars of future economic growth. Gozo in particular has been positioned as a model for sustainable investment and technology-driven development.

Gozo Graphics has built one of the largest fleets of printing and manufacturing machines in Malta, continuously investing in new technologies and highly qualified staff. The company's pivot towards startup support represents a significant diversification, transforming its manufacturing capabilities into shared infrastructure for the country's growing entrepreneurial community.
