Global Brand, Mediterranean Location: NH Collection Sliema to Open in Malta by End 2026

Minor Hotels has signed a franchise agreement to bring its premium brand NH Collection to Malta with a new 268-room hotel in the coastal town of Sliema, scheduled to open by the end of 2026. The move is part of Minor Hotels' "asset-right" expansion strategy, emphasising franchising and locally partnered growth in new markets.

The NH Collection Sliema marks NH Hotel Group’s first entry into the Maltese market, positioning the brand in one of the island's prime tourism destinations.

The hotel will be situated on the doorstep of the Sliema promenade and shopping district, designed as a resort within the city. Premium amenities will include a spa and wellness centre, a rooftop bar with panoramic sea views, a swimming pool, and a restaurant.

Located less than 10 kilometres from the capital Valletta, the property offers access to Malta's vibrant urban atmosphere and cultural heritage in a country that enjoys over 300 days of sunshine annually. Guests will be within walking distance of the seafront promenade, shops, and local restaurants.

The opening forms part of Minor Hotels' wider global strategy, exemplifying expansion under its franchise model. The group's "asset-right flexible approach" balances 'asset-heavy' owned and leased properties with 'asset-light' managed and franchised properties, enabling the company to scale more rapidly whilst fostering partnerships with local stakeholders.

Minor Hotels operates more than 560 hotels, resorts and branded residences worldwide under 12 diverse hotel brands. The group is actively pursuing franchise opportunities both in countries where it has an established presence and untapped markets such as the Balkans and CIS region.
