Day one opens with an address from FinanceMalta Chairman George Vella, followed by the Hon Clyde Caruana, Minister for Finance. Caruana will set out how Malta 2050, the country’s long-term economic vision, can be linked to investment in its strategic sectors. Professor Christos Gortsos of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens will then offer an EU perspective on the Capital Markets Union and the Savings and Investment Union. A featured panel, including Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) Chairman Jesmond Gatt, PwC Territory Senior Partner Lucienne Pace Ross, and Fiorentina D’Amore CEO Malta at Blockchain.com, will discuss how Malta can build an ecosystem that finances growth sectors, from gaming and fintech to digital assets and transport finance. The afternoon turns to human capital, with a keynote on workforce skills and AI from Mark Hoban, Chair of the UK Financial Services Skills Commission.

Day two opens with Jimmy Kvarnström, Executive Director of Markets at Finansinspektionen, the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority, sharing lessons from Sweden’s capital markets, followed by a panel on distributed ledger technology and tokenisation, featuring Malta Stock Exchange CEO Simon Zammit and James Auliffe of the World Federation of Exchanges. Parallel sessions will look at everything from the creative economy and occupational pensions, to Malta’s transport economy and family office proposition.

In the afternoon, leaders from the Malta Financial Services Advisory Council (MFSAC), the MFSA, the Malta Business Registry (MBR), and the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU), will discuss how Malta’s authorities are working as one ecosystem, offering a first look at the priorities shaping the forthcoming Council strategy.

With speakers drawn from Malta, the EU and international institutions, the conference offers the sector a timely platform to align on its next phase of growth and channel investment into the industries set to drive the future of Malta’s economy.
