Malta is set to take centre stage in European entrepreneurship as it prepares to host the 12th edition of the EU-Startups Summit on 7–8 May 2026, with a panel exploring one of the most debated questions in business - the role of luck in building successful companies.

The panel, entitled “The Role of Luck in Entrepreneurship, and How to Deal with Bad Luck and Keep Going,” brings together founders who have experienced both the highs and setbacks of building companies. The panellists include:

Stephanie is the founder and former CEO of Bloom, an award-winning brand marketing agency, and host of The Top 20 Business Show podcast, known for her keynote “Hacking Luck,” which explores how founders can create opportunities through strategy and persistence rather than relying on chance.

Karl is the CEO of Eicorn and a serial entrepreneur who previously founded Iplay Sport, a sports tech platform that raised €1 million in funding before ultimately filing for bankruptcy. This gives him a distinctive perspective on resilience.

Karolina is an entrepreneur, investor, and author of the upcoming book “Her Play: Make Your Own Luck.” She has more than two decades of experience across the global gaming and technology industries.

The summit is expected to draw around 2,500 founders, investors, corporates, and media professionals, with Malta Enterprise serving as a headline sponsor. The economic development agency is well-placed to partner on the summit given that it helps cultivate a vibrant startup ecosystem in Malta by offering tailored support and incentives to SMEs.
