BLAST, an esports tournament organiser, has recently announced a three-year partnership with GamingMalta, establishing a permanent esports broadcasting facility and operations centre at Ta'Qali, Malta. The partnership is the result of a concerted effort by the Maltese Government to position the country as a world-class esports destination.

The partnership neatly aligns with the Government’s Vision 2050, which places a long-term emphasis on digital innovation, youth engagement, and the creative economy, as pointed out by Economy Minister Silvio Schembri.

The esports organiser will initially host nine major international esports tournaments in Malta. In addition, BLAST will set up a broadcasting facility that will span over 1,000m2. The facility will train young people in marketing, production, engineering and content creation. It will also serve as a home base for Maltese esports gamers to participate in tournaments.

The Malta Esports Association has been working to develop professional structures, ensuring common rules and creating a safe, legal, and inclusive competitive environment. These efforts are complemented by initiatives connecting the sector with Malta's education system and broader economic development goals.

The BLAST partnership follows other major international esports companies establishing operations in Malta, including TALON Esports and DAIGON Esports. The first European esports tournament final held at the Ta' Qali studios attracted 100 million viewers worldwide, demonstrating Malta's capacity to host events with massive global reach.

Malta's success in attracting BLAST—which operates globally with offices in Copenhagen, London, Berlin, Mumbai and New York—validates the government's strategic vision and positions the island alongside premier esports destinations like Singapore, where BLAST also maintains major operations.
