Ryanair has released its Winter 2025 schedule, added 6 new routes and increasing frequencies on 20 existing routes from Malta. This will further expand the island’s international connectivity while providing more options for residents and tourists alike.
The Irish carrier will launch new routes connecting Malta to Glasgow, Gothenburg, Luxembourg, Norwich, Newcastle, and Palma while also increasing frequency on twenty existing routes to popular destinations including Milan, Porto, Bucharest, and London.
To support the increase in flights, Ryanair will add a ninth Boeing aircraft in Malta, starting in November 2025. The $100 million investment will allow the airline to expand its capacity while creating thirty new jobs for pilots and cabin crew at Malta International Airport.
Ryanair projects the expanded service will drive Malta's passenger traffic to over 5.2 million travellers in 2025, representing a 15% increase from current levels. This growth is expected to generate substantial economic benefits across Malta's tourism sector, from accommodation providers to local attractions and restaurants.
The airline's expansion specifically targets high-demand markets including the United Kingdom, France, and emerging Middle Eastern segments. These regions have demonstrated strong interest in Malta as a destination for cultural tourism, leisure travel, and business activities.
The new routes are a further indication that Ryanair is one of Malta’s key partners when it comes to growing the aviation sector. It comes after the airline opened a new office on the island, creating up to 70 new jobs. The €700m expansion at their Pieta headquarters will bring Ryanair’s local workforce to over 500.
The increased connectivity is also expected to facilitate business travel and international investment, potentially benefiting sectors beyond tourism including financial services and technology. For travelling professionals, the expanded flight route will make it easier to fly in and out of Malta, growing the island’s reputation as an international financial services centre.
