MFSA and FinanceMalta Launch Malta Finance Week 2027
The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) and FinanceMalta have jointly launched Malta Finance Week 2027, a new flagship national event for Malta’s financial services sector, set to run from 13 to 15 October 2027. The announcement was made by MFSA CEO Kenneth Farrugia and FinanceMalta Chairman George Vella during the closing remarks of the MFSA’s FinTech2030 conference at the end of last month.
The inaugural event will bring together regulators, industry leaders, policymakers, investors, academics and international stakeholders for a week of high-level panels, networking and thought leadership centred on the future of finance. Organisers are positioning it as a showcase for Malta’s financial services ecosystem, strengthening public-private collaboration and opening doors for international engagement, built around six core themes: innovation and digital transformation, sustainable finance, capital markets and investment, FinTech and emerging technologies, regulatory excellence and resilience, and international competitiveness.
The timing carries added significance, with Malta Finance Week 2027 coinciding with FinanceMalta’s 20th anniversary and the MFSA’s 25th, giving the sector a natural moment to mark its progress to date while setting out its ambitions for what comes next.
Farrugia described the event as a platform to demonstrate the depth and maturity of Malta’s financial services sector to the world, stressing that trust, stability and market integrity remain the foundation on which innovation can responsibly flourish. Vella echoed that sentiment, framing the event as a chance to bring Malta’s financial ecosystem together and showcase it to a global audience, while opening the door to new investment and helping shape the sector’s long-term competitiveness
Organisers intend for Malta Finance Week to become a permanent fixture on the international calendar, offering the sector a recurring platform to reinforce Malta’s reputation for pairing innovation with robust regulation. Further details on the programme, venue, speakers and registration are expected in the coming months.
