Malta’s Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg held high-level meetings with senior figures from India’s travel and hospitality industry as Malta looks to deepen economic ties with one of its fastest-growing trade partners. The meetings were held in New Delhi, alongside the Raisina Dialogue 2026, which the Deputy Prime Minister was attending.

Borg held a series of investment meetings with India’s top travel and hospitality executives, including Aditya Pande, Group CEO of InterGlobe Enterprises; Sameer Nayar, Executive Vice President of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts; and representatives of MakeMyTrip, India’s largest online travel platform. The meetings were facilitated by EY Managing Partner Ronald Attard.

On the sidelines of the three-day conference, Borg also met with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who afterwards noted his appreciation for the Deputy Prime Minister’s insights on the maritime industry.

Discussions covered Malta’s pro-business regulatory environment, its access to the EU single market, strong connectivity across Europe and the Mediterranean, and a multilingual, highly qualified workforce. Participants also explored Malta's established Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) industry, and its resilient, all-year tourism sector.

The Maltese Government’s long-term tourism strategy was presented as a framework designed to attract both public and private investment, with an emphasis on sustainability and high-value visitor experiences across Malta and Gozo.

The Raisina Dialogue, organised by the Observer Research Foundation in partnership with India's Ministry of External Affairs, brings together global leaders, policymakers, and technology experts to deliberate on geopolitical and economic challenges. Malta's participation underlined the country's determination to position itself as a natural gateway for Indian businesses seeking a foothold in Europe.
