FinanceMalta, in collaboration with the Malta Asset Servicing Association (MASA), is set to bring Malta’s digital finance story to an international audience with a landmark event in Warsaw, Poland, on 21 May 2026.
Titled ‘Digital Asset Funds and MiCA: Malta’s Established Advantage’, the half-day conference will take place at the Sheraton Grand Warsaw, bringing together industry leaders, regulators, and financial professionals to explore Malta's pioneering role in digital asset regulation.
The event will spotlight Malta’s position as one of the first jurisdictions in the world to introduce a dedicated regulatory framework for digital asset funds - a bold move that has given Malta a significant first-mover advantage in the evolving digital finance landscape. Over the years, Malta has built a robust and well-tested ecosystem, attracting international operators seeking regulatory clarity and institutional credibility.
The programme features an impressive line-up of speakers across two panels. The first will bring together senior figures including Stefania Grech, CEO of Swissquote Financial Services (Malta), Omar Cascun, Country Head of Apex Group Malta, Philip Suchta of Q Securities, Andrew Caruana Scicluna of Camilleri Preziosi, and Ian Meli, Head of Investment Services Supervision at the MFSA. A manager spotlight will feature Anabel Mifsud of Fexserv Fund Services and Kacper Szafran, founder of M-Squared Fund, offering a real-world perspective on operating a Malta-based digital asset fund.
The second panel will focus on MiCA and features Timothy Borg Olivier of Deloitte, Dr Cherise Abela Grech of GTG, Mark Caruana Scicluna of Ganado Advocates, Herman Ciappara of the MFSA, and Dr Paweł Widawski, President of Future Finance Poland - a particularly timely voice, as Poland remains the only EU member state that has yet to implement a domestic framework for MiCA, the EU’s landmark Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation. The event will be an opportunity for Malta to share its hard-won expertise and practical learnings with Polish stakeholders as they navigate this regulatory journey.
The collaboration between FinanceMalta and MASA underscores a shared commitment to positioning Malta as a centre of excellence for asset servicing and digital finance within the EU and beyond.
